PAT MCNEELY USC Professor Emerita Pat McNeely taught writing and reporting in the School of Journalism for 33 years before retiring in 2006. Before joining the faculty, McNeely was a reporter and editor for The Greenville News, The State and The Columbia Record.
After retiring, she revived a childhood interest in drawing and painting and worked her way through watercolor, oil, colored pencils and acrylic before settling on acrylic. Inspired by images she remembers from growing up on a farm in Greenville County, she loves to paint old barns and buildings as well as cats and frogs. She has won several awards from the Log Cabin Art Guild and the State Fair.
She is also the author of five books, including “Sherman’s Flame and Blame Campaign through Georgia and the Carolinas … and the Burning of Columbia” published in 2014, and “Hand-written Recipes and Memories from America’s First Families” published in 2015. Her latest book, “Lincoln, Sherman, Davis and the Lost Confederate Gold,” will be published later this year.
