Watercolor Class for Adults and Older Teens with Barbie Mathis
Realistic Watercolor Painting, Mondays 1 to 3 p.m.
Ongoing class - paid 6 weeks at a time.
Beginners will learn how to paint basic watercolor paintings while learning lessons on how to use and care for supplies, color mixing, elements of design and various watercolor techniques. Students will also learn how to use a photo reference of a flower or landscape to create original works of art. Intermediate to Advanced Students will continue to sharpen their skills by using their own photo references to create unique paintings. Advanced lessons in painting textures, shiny objects, glass, fur, feathers, people, layering, glazing and lifting will be demonstrated. New and experienced individuals will be encouraged to work at their own level and develop their own style.
Oil Painting for Beginners & Intermediates with Carl Bell. Mondays 10:00 to 12:30 p.m., ongoing. Six weeks for $100 Each student can work on their own subject of interest, ex. still life, wild life, landscape, seascape, etc. This will be an ongoing class as long as students have desire to continue.
Create an oil painting with Karen Langley. Fee: $100 for 6 weeks. Classes will resume February 14, 2012, Tuesday morning from 10 am. to 12:30 p.m. Learn to work with oil paint and improve your skills. Karen Langley will teach basic painting techniques, color mixing and selection, explore oil mediums, as well as composition. We will paint from your photo. Bring in a still life or a landscape photo. No Portraits! We will have lots of fun and learn some great tips about oil painting. My class is for beginners and intermediate artists. Create a Portrait with Karen Langley. Learn to do portraits in oil paint and improve your painting skills. This two-day workshop begins Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fee: $175. We will paint a portrait from your photo, email your photo to Karen for approval before class starts klangley@sc.rr.com. We will be painting the head and shoulders. The face will be divided into easy instructions on how to accomplish a finished portrait. We will have lots of fun and learn some great tips. The goal is for you to take home a finished portrait. This class is for beginners and intermediate artists. You must know how to paint in oil to take this class. Children's Mixed Media Class with Dawn Faber. Wednesdays 4:00 to 5:15 p.m. Fee $60 for 4 week session. Your child will experience many different mediums to help them explore and develop their own artistic style. Register at the gallery.
Color Theory with Mary Hartfield. One day workshop, March 3 from 10 to 6 p.m. Fee: $50. Paint a color wheel with primary colors, mixing secondary and intermediate colors. Mix and paint a value chart (grey-using white and grey), using this chart to learn how to tone a color. A chart showing how to use tints (white), tone (grey), shade (black), compliment and earth tones.
PAULA GROOKETT will offer another iPad class with a minimum of three students. Date to be determined. Fee: $35.
