GO FIGURE - come together with other artists to draw and paint from a live model on a weekly basis. Sessions are from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. every Monday evening at Village Artists. Create an oil painting with Artist Karen Langley. Fee: $100 for 6 weeks. Classes are ongoing and you may start any Tuesday morning from 10 am. to 12:30 p.m. (We will break for two weeks over spring break, March 30 & April 6). Learn to work with oil paint and improve your skills. Karen Langley will teach basic painting techniques, color mixing and selection, explore oiil mediums, as well as composition.
We will paint from your photo. Bring in a still life or a landscape photo. No Portraits! We will have lots of fun and learn some great tips about oil painting. Home School Art History/Application for Children grades 2 - 6 with Dawn Faber. Classes begin March 3 on Wednesday afternoons for four weeks (no class on March 17th) from 4:00 pm. to 5:30 pm. Fee: $60
In this four week class Dawn will teach children about the origins of art and learn about the art of well known artists.
Dawn will talk about the time period and how what was happening in history affected the work of the artist, keeping
the lesson geared to each student's comprehension level.
Her goal is having children start to think about art in a way that is meaningful to them. Students will learn that there is no wrong way
or right way to interpret art. The children will begin to see art in a different way, one that they will continue to develop as they grow
into adulthood. Creative thinking is not only valuable in the visual arts but in many areas of life including building confidence and self esteem.
Beginning/Intermediate Colored Pencils with instructor Paula Grookett. Fee: $100. Beginning March 4, Thursdays, 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Learn the fundamental techniques and principles needed to master this incredible media. Course content is applicable for portraits, landscapes or still life. Class meets on four consecutive Thursday afternoons. Fee: $100, register at the gallery and receive supply list.
Painter's Choice - Beginning Oil Painting with Mary Hartfield
Fee: $100. Tuesday evenings beginning March 16th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm., beginning March 16th.
Learn to paint originals from photographs. Sharp focus on realism will be taught. Students will learn many tips on color theory, how and when to use various painting mediums and their effect on the painting. Everything will be covered from enlarging your photograph, transferring to your canvas and tips on varnishing.
Beginner/Intermediate Watercolor with Barbie Mathis. Four week session beginning Wednesday, March 17 through April 7 from 10:00 am. to 12:30 pm. Fee: $100 Class for beginners and ongoing students. Individuals will be coached to paint on their own levels using personal photographs of florals, landscapes or still life as inspiration.
Beginning Portraits in Oil with Instructor Karen Langley, Saturday and Sunday, March 20 & 21 from 10 am. to 4 pm. Two day course providing an introduction to portraits in oil on canvas. Paint from your photo. Karen will sell a pallet of paint to complete two day class for $12. This will be a fun and exciting class, and you will leave with a portrait of your favorite person. Email your photos to Karen prior to class for her approval. Find a photo of one person from shoulders up! We will concentrate on details of the face. Karen will also have a few brushes for sale. So sign up now as space is limited to six students. You must have oil painting experience to take this class.
Beginning Drawing Class with Bob Manown. Fee: $100. Six Saturdays beginning March 20th from 10 am. to 12:30 pm. This six week course will provide an introduction to drawing, design, value, shading and composition.
Beginning Acrylic Painting with Instructor Bob Manown. Fee: $100. Saturdays beginning March 20 from 1:00 pm. to 2:30 pm.
This six week course provides an introduction to drawing, design, value, shading and composition as it applies to acrylic painting. Students will paint an impressionistic landscape of their own creation, from composition to value sketch to color sketch to finished painting on canvas. Class will contain both theory and painting experience. Come prepared to splash paint!
Abstract and Floral Collage Workshop with Gail Cunningham beginning on Thursday, April 1 from 10:00 am. to 12:30 pm.
Fee: $115 (includes sample of oriental papers and tissue paper)
Working with acrylics and watercolor, oriental papers, handmade stamps and found objects, Gail will teach a variety of design concepts and will let her students in on some "secrets" for adding textures and patterns to their collage work. Come with an open mind ready to have fun and let's experiment with color and design to create something wonderful!
