Benira Sutphin, our jeweler was born and raised in Texas. She moved to Columbia in 1997. She unpacked all the boxes and set out to find what the art community had to offer. She had been doing simple crafts and found a group of people that showed her a new world working with wire and sheet metal , gem stones and fossils that quickly expanded her knowledge to silversmithing and as they say in the movies “ the rest is history “ .
She had a great opportunity to take workshops and classes with some very talented jewelry artist and incorporated soldiering, and working with her hands. She works in her studio and plans to begin classes at Village Artists soon. Come in to see what new items she brings to Village Artist. Below is a small sample of her work.
